Trailer- Avengers: Age of Ultron

*Crying out of nerd-happiness*

Without a doubt my most anticipated movie since the first Avengers is the second Avengers. Here’s the first trailer for the film:

Funny story: I saw that the trailer had hit and gasped for air for only about three minutes. Then when I finally saw the trailer I only cried for about 2 minutes and 17 seconds (the entire duration of the footage).

This trailer was supposed to air in the commercial for next weeks “Agents of Shield” but it was leaked so Marvel responded quickly and took to their twitter, tweeting this hilarious tweet before officially releasing the footage online:

Based on what I’ve heard from the lucky people who were able to attend this years comic-con this seems to be a condensed version of the footage shown there. But I’m loving it! I’ll just run down the most notable things here inbetween by spontaneous nerd-tears.

The Tone

First of all, the tone. It seems insane and it really looks alot darker than any of the previous Marvel movies. I think we’ll see the Avengers group dynamic and a more light tone in the beginning of the film but it will go darker as it goes on. The eerie version of the upbeat “No Strings on Me” song from Pinocchio is played over the trailer and it creates a cool dynamic with the voice over by James Spader’s Ultron (But I’ll get into that later).

The Twins

In the beginning of the trailer we see Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, aka Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch rallying in the streets. The Twins were previously seen in the mid credits scene of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and a very different rendition of the character of Quicksilver was featured in one of the best scenes from this years comic book juggernaut “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. What we’ve heard so far from the film is that the Twins will be advesaries at first but transition to “good” guys in the end. In the “Cap 2’s” mid credit scene we see that they are held captive by Baron von Strucker. My prediction is that we’ll see the happy, witty Avengers break them out and that the’ll team up with Ultron to later turn good.

I really like the look of their powers as well. Quicksilver’s running looks more magical than Evan Peter’s did in “DOFP”.

HULKBUSTER *heavy breathing*

Something alot of fans have been clamoring for for years is the Hulkbuster suit. First thing first: the suit is huge! Over the years, Iron Man has gone head to head a couple of times but the Hulkbuster hasn’t been able to stand a chance against the strongest there is (the Hulk). However, in this trailer, it looks really buff and fit for fight so to speak. I mean look at that thing! It’s so boss! By the looks of it the suit seems to be a second layer, if you will, since it looks like the “regular” Iron Man is in there.

The real question is however why the two team members are duking it out. It could be a simulation, the Hulkbuster suit could be controled by Ultron or the Hulk could just be going rampant and Iron Man has to stop him.

I can literally not wait for “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. Yes, I’m quite desperate excited for this film…

Andy Serkis

It was revealed that Andy Serkis woud help Mark Ruffalo with the motion capture. It was also revealed that Serkis would have a part in the film and his face is indeed shown in the trailer. He is rumored to be playing Ulysses Klaw, one of Black Panther’s most prominent villains. The theori is that Klaw will help bring Ultron the vibranium he needs to create his army of drones and vibranium is linked to Wakanda, the home of Black Panther.

The Team

The team is looking very shattered and not really like a team in this footage. I think they will be more of a unit in the beginning of the film but things will go downhill once Ultron makes his entrance.

Ok, are you excited for

Speaking of Ultron: ULTRON! This looks like a fantastic villain. He is ofcourse voiced by James Spader (“Blacklist”) and his voice is absolutely perfect! The look and evolution of the character looks really cool and James Spader described his character to Total Film saying this:

“Ultron takes abrupt turns in scenes. Red [Spader’s character in “Blacklist”] isn’t psychopathic but Ultron is. Yes, he is psychopathic. He’s really batshit crazy! There’s a humorous aspect to him, which is something that drew me in from the very first conversation I had with Joss [Whedon]. In many ways he’s a child, this character, because he’s a brand new being who’s just come to be. And yet, through artificial intelligence, he has an incredible capacity for knowledge. So he’s a very powerful, smart child.”

Ok, are you excited for “Age of Ultron”. I know I am!

Cheers, Bokis
